Unveiling the Unsung Heroes: Celebrating Mother's Day with Unseen Tales of Courage

Mother's Day invites us to honor the incredible women who shape our lives with their strength, nurturing spirit, and boundless courage. While flowers, cards, and phone calls are commonplace, beneath these gestures lie countless stories of bravery, resilience, and love worth celebrating. This Mother's Day weekend, why not come and share your stories of motherhood at the sidelines of your child's development training. Chit chat with other mothers, share your best and worst mothering moments, bring your too-little-to-ballers and get them involved in our Mother's Day picture colouring competition to create a lovely picture for your fridge door, and nibble on some mothers day chocolates with Emma, Lèo and Thèo whilst Rod takes care of the football.

ENTER OUR MOTHERS DAY COMPETITIONS

Every mother carries a personal story of sacrifice, often unnoticed by others. These sacrifices can include sleepless nights caring for a sick child or setting aside personal dreams for their children’s happiness, but they can also include more troubling times that show true heroism in the way that they cope and overcome adversity for the family. To celebrate this with our members, we have two competitions that you and your children can enter:

  1. The RB 'Dear Mum...' Competition

Send us your notes and letters to mum before midnight on Sunday the 23rd of March '25. We will post them (or snippets from them) onto the socials throughout the week leading up to Mother's Day, and each player who submits a comment will be entered into a random draw, to win a week-long pass to our summer football camp. Send submissions to hello@rbfd.co.uk. Don’t forget to use ‘Dear Mum Competition’ exactly as your email subject line, otherwise it won’t reach the submissions folder.

  1. The RB 'She's a Hero' Competition

If the mother in your household is someone who deserves an extra special shoutout for seeing you through tough times and going above and beyond, share your story with us before midnight on Sunday the 23rd of March 2025, to win a whole week pass to our summer camp in July. Rod and Emma will shortlist 3 submissions, and Rod's mother will select a winning hero on Mother’s Day. We will post the winner online that day. Send submissions to hello@rbfd.co.uk. Don’t forget to use ‘She’s a Hero Competition’ exactly as your email subject line, otherwise it won’t reach the submissions folder.

Other ways to get involved

If you would like to give your mum a special RB shoutout, you can send your Mother's Day thank you videos to our RB WhatsApp on 07518 593598, we'll jazz them up for you and post them on our socials. Please make sure that entries are a maximum of 1 minute long for posting purposes. We welcome videos from players to mothers, grandmothers and from parents to mothers (theirs or their childrens) - the more voices of celebration the better!

A Final Thought...

Mother's Day goes beyond gratitude; it is a moment to shine a light on the unsung heroes of our lives. The powerful stories of these courageous women reveal that motherhood involves a profound connection that impacts society. Let's take this time make the RBFD sidelines a space for all the mothers in our community to shine.
